A brief description of how and when the cultural assessment(s) were developed and/or adopted:
The cultural assessment consisting of 31 questions was conducted in Fall of 2022. Results were received on 14 Nov 2022. The assessment will be repeated in about two years. Our survey used to complete the assessment included questions for the sustainability literacy assessment (AC-6; questions 5-15), the commute modal split (OP-16; question 20), and the assessment of sustainability culture (OP-16; questions 16-30).

A brief description of how representative samples were reached (if applicable) and how the cultural assessment is administered:
The process we used to gather this data was to create questions for the sustainability survey (survey also included the sustainability literacy assessment and question on commute modal split). The survey was then sent to a research analyst in the CMC's Institutional Research Department (IR). IR formatted and distributed the survey to reach as many participants as possible and to create interpretable data that could then be used to measure the sustainability culture of Colorado Mountain College. This was the first time the survey was administered longitudinally, but the plan is to continue to administer the survey so changes can be measured.
A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment:
This was the first survey. 330 people responded (14% faculty members, 35% staff, 51 % students). Several general questions provided insight into the respondent's general knowledge of sustainability and climate change (the sustainability literacy portion of the survey). These questions were answered correctly 70 - 80% of the time. For the cultural assessment questions, more than 77 % of the respondents felt that sustainability would be essential to future social well being and that CMC needs to reflect those values. Respondents' top categories of concern (over 50%) were climate change, habitat degradation, social justice, and human rights. More than 47% of the respondents were very or extremely interested in learning more about sustainability through classes. 45% of respondents had attended two or more CMC sustainability events, but more than 90% had not participated in campus green teams or sustainability clubs. These data will prove helpful for making progress on CMC sustainability goals.
