Sustainable Wednesdays
A brief description of the campaign:
'Sustainable Wednesdays' is a series of sustainability-focused & themed pop-up events that meet students where they are at interactively and educationally. It puts a face(s) to the OOS and increases our presence across campus. This program is meant to provide students with sustainable tips, resources, and information around specific topics within sustainability and be highly interactive. Previous Sustainable Wednesdays formats included themes around wellness, OOS programming, and waste and included engaging activities such as trivia, bingo, and a doodle activity. During Sustainable Wednesdays last year, the team interacted with ~30-50 participants each time the event was hosted.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
Over the academic year, 160 students participated in Sustainable Wednesdays. Each event had clear and immediate takeaways due to the type of activity.

Ditch the Dumpster
A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):
The objective of this program is two-pronged: to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and to support local communities through our donations. Each year, as CC students graduate, study abroad, and move off campus, they often realize that they have accumulated more possessions than they need or can transport back home with them. Ditch the Dumpster is a campus-wide program for students to help reduce some of the waste created during move-out, through recycling and donating these possessions.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Ditch the Dumpster has significantly reduced waste generation by facilitating the recycling and donation of possessions. Instead of items being discarded, they are repurposed through recycling or donated to other organizations. Last year alone, the initiative resulted in the donation of over 1500 lbs of clothing, which remained after organizations and students had sorted through them. Additionally, hundreds of dorm essentials such as lights, fans, hampers, mirrors, and hangers were collected, saved, and redistributed at the beginning of the following year. This ensured that incoming students had access to these items without the need to purchase them anew, promoting reuse and sustainability within the campus community.
