The Excel@CC Sustainability Certificate is awarded to staff who complete Sustainability 101 PLUS four other sustainability-themed workshops offered throughout the academic year. Excel@CC is a peer-to-peer employee educator’s program for staff at Colorado College. In the program, employees in the Office of Sustainability train employees on various focus topics. Those employees are then asked to share the information they've formally gained through the program with peers in their individual offices. Sustainability is one of the focus topics offered through Excel@CC and the CC Office of Sustainability Director is the primary educator and leader for this part of the program. Additionally, the Office of Sustainability Coordinator and at least one office intern are also identified as employee educators for the sustainability certificate available through the Excel@CC professional development program. The college's Sustainability Director, Sustainability Coordinator, and intern(s) total three certified peer-employee educators (as reported). Other workshop themes included in the Sustainability certificate include Colorado Springs Water 101, Investments in off-campus carbon solutions, Ecotourism and Sustainable Travel, a Campus Tree Tour, as well as site visits to the Material Recovery Facility where recycling is sorted to educate more fully on what is recyclable and how to properly divert trash, a tour of the college's net-zero energy/carbon library, and more.
