Do the figures reported above cover one, two, or three academic years?:

A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :

The 2019-2020 class schedule was used to compile the number of courses offered. To identify sustainability courses, the class descriptions were carefully reviewed for content and topics. Definitions of sustainability courses were taken from Sustainability Focused (T1 designation) or Sustainability Related (T2 designation) definitions for Colorado College, which were designed to be in line with STARS course designations. Sustainability Related courses meet one or two of the sustainability learning objectives. Sustainability Focused courses meet three or more of the sustainability learning objectives. Objectives can be found at https://www.coloradocollege.edu/offices/sustainability/academics/

Courses that are not counted towards include:
Adjunct Courses
Extended Format
Half Block Courses
Courses Under 1.0 Credit

Individually-Directed Courses (Thesis, Practicum, & Ind. Study)

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Other (please describe below)

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:

To streamline the data, CC has elected to count multiple course offerings (those that have the same Course Title & Level #) within a department/program as a single course. If a course is cross-listed in two or more departments, that course is then counted in all departments listed towards the total. The reasoning behind this is that the total # of courses offered (seen in sheet: Extra Information) does not account for cross-listed courses in the total count for # of courses offered during the academic year.

Additional documentation to support the submission:

The Office of Sustainability has implemented a course designation for sustainability-focused and sustainability-related courses. The designation was written by a group of students, faculty, and staff that was part of the Sustainability Action Team appointed by the president during the 2013-2014 academic year. A number of courses, mostly ones that were developed by faculty as part of the Sustainability Across the Curriculum Workshop, have gone through the designation process. In addition to the courses developed in the Sustainability Across the Curriculum workshop, an intern at the Office of Sustainability reviews the course catalog and identifies courses that may be either sustainability focused or sustainability related and contacts the professor to ask them to fill out the course designation application.
