APC Fund: The library does not have an APC fund per se but does support open access initiatives and OA publishing discounts through SPARC, BioMedCentral, and MDPI memberships. In the future, we are hoping to offer grant money to encourage and compensate faculty publishing in Open Access journals and/or the digital repository.

Colorado College has a policy stating that it "supports the concept of open access to scholarly work and encourages faculty, students, and staff to share their intellectual property" (https://www.coloradocollege.edu/basics/welcome/leadership/policies/intellectual-property-and-copyright). Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to share their scholarly work. The Digital Archives of Colorado College (https://digitalcc.coloradocollege.edu/islandora/object/coccc%3Aroot) is the college’s repository for storing research data and allowing open access. However, there is no formal policy assuring open access to scholarly work in any department.

Open Access Percentage Data from Diane Westerfield
Methodology
In Web of Science, searched for Colorado Coll in Enhanced Organization field
Limited to year 2017 and exported results directly to Excel (RefWorks not required for this step): 101 results.
From spreadsheet, removed articles not written by CC faculty or teaching staff and one duplicate: 85 results
Used Google for each article title to look for deposit in open repositories and/or publication in completely open access journals: 13 results
13/85 = 15%

This Year's Information Included Below:
We currently have a digital repository and are about to adopt a new product called TIND. The current digital repository does have some Open Access articles in it.

Not yet but with our new digital repository TIND, we intend to provide open access journal services.

Used Web of Science to generate a list of articles with “Colorado College” as enhanced organization (indicating one or more authors connected to CC). Result was 107 articles. Examine each article’s authors for CC faculty and employees (including visiting faculty), excluding students; also removed one listing that was a correction to another article. Result: 98 articles. Checked each of these articles via Google for open access. Although 28 were freely available, only 16 were available in repositories (the remaining 12 were in open access journals, or published as open access in mixed journals, but not found in repositories). 16 / 98 = 16% deposited in Open Access repositories.
