A brief description of the institution’s green event certification program, including the specific components selected above:

The Green Event Certification is meant to challenge CC Students and Community members to think of the environment when planning and executing events on Campus. This criteria was built with Student events in mind but can be easily tweaked for Community events. The Colorado Eco-Event Criteria is broken into 3 categories: Waste, Food & Drink, and Other.

Waste Criteria:
• Arrange for recycling and compost bins at the event
• Print event materials using 2 sided print
• Print event materials using recycled/recyclable materials
• Have a volunteer stand by the trash bins to guide waste diversion
• Use reusable cloth tablecloths
• Collect and reuse name tag holders
• Send out invitations and reminders by email

Food & Drink Criteria:
• Use reusable or compostable dishware
• Request Bon Appetit catering options that meet "Real Food" criteria or select an external catering option from our pre-approved list
• Avoid serving red meat or unsustainable-sourced seafood
• Choose food items that can be consumed without utensils (finger food)
• Address food waste by posting extras on CC’s "Food Finder" page
• Serve beverages in bulk coolers or pitchers instead of individual cans or bottles and use reusable or compostable cups
• Avoid the use of unnecessary products (coffee stirrers, straws, toothpicks, etc.)

Other Criteria:
• During event announcements, remind participants where and what to recycle and compost
• Use Eco-Event logo on event materials `
