The Community-Engaged Leadership (CEL) Certificate is designed to assist students develop their interests and capacities in areas related to service, social justice, leadership and public engagement. The program involves a series of workshops as well as a senior capstone project in the community for each participating student. The CEL Certificate appears on student transcripts. Additionally, Community Based Learning courses appear on student transcripts. CBL courses involve community engagement through learning or research as part of the course description. Courses with a CBL notation include the intention of equipping students with the skills, knowledge and experience to exercise influence toward social, cultural, environmental or civic outcomes that benefit the common good.

Full-time and part-time staff may request leave with pay to voluntarily participate in any of the civic or charitable-related trips or activities sponsored by Colorado College. The college offers this paid leave as a benefit to full-time and part-time staff scheduled to work during a college-sponsored community service event.
