Student Sustainability Research Incentives

The W&M Green Fee fund accepts proposals every fall and spring for sustainability projects, including research, and specifically funds 4 summer research projects each year. Recent examples include a project exploring a new practice for green chemistry that requires less chemical use, a study on the accuracy of citizen science, and a study on bioswales.

The W&M Green Fee fund accepts proposals every fall and spring for sustainability projects, including research. A recent faculty example includes the Parks Rx program which explores the benefits of nature on wellness and has structured a program to allow doctors to prescribe outdoor time at local parks as a form of treatment.

Swem Library is very supportive of sustainability through multiple avenues. In the area of research specifically, the library hosts a sustainability research guide, as well as providing an environment that showcases sustainability values through digital scanners, the removal of top sheet printing, motion sensor lights, and serving as a collection point for many unusual items to be recycled.
