Total full-time equivalent student enrollment:
345

Full-time equivalent of employees:
93

Part 1. Student commute modal split

Has the institution gathered data about student commuting behavior?:
Yes

Total percentage of students that use more sustainable commuting options as their primary mode of transportation:
76.90

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
In February 2022, we performed a commuter survey of all COA community members to obtain their travel history for the previous year. The estimates above regarding commuting are based on this survey. The response rate for faculty and staff was 36.5%, and the response rate for students was 51.9%. We believe these responses are a good representation of modes of commuting. About half of students live on campus, so they commute by walking, although some own cars. The other half live mostly within walking distance of the campus, since Bar Harbor has a small business district with apartments that students rent. We have a van shuttle, known as "Day Bus" and "Night Bus", which transports students to and from downtown Bar Harbor (and which has high ridership during the cold Maine winters).

Part 2. Employee commute modal split

Has the institution gathered data about employee commuting behavior?:
Yes
