A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
College of the Atlantic’s Building and Grounds department strives to minimize material waste during any renovations. In the 2014-15 academic year the college renovated two small buildings on campus (residential Cottage House and Pottery Studio) and the majority of the interior materials were donated and recycled. Damaged drywall and pressure-treated wood were discarded. The college does not have permanent construction waste containers: This is specifically to encourage repair, reuse, and recycling of construction materials.
