Shared governance at the College of Lake County provides a cross-functional representation that includes faculty, staff, students and administrators.
The Student Government Association sends its senators as representatives to all bodies within the governance system. The Governance Coordinating Council coordinates and facilitates the shared governance system, with cross-functional representation from the College Leadership Team, the Student Government Association, senates, councils and commissions. Senates represent the faculty and 3 different staff classifications. Four councils represent the college's areas of excellence: sustainability, diversity, wellness and student success. 4 commissions represent governance areas of academics, operations and facilities, human relations, and enrollment services. The Student Governance Association sends its senators to council and commissions to provide student input and facilitate communication.
The College Leadership Team includes the President and Vice Presidents, who attend Governance Coordinating Council and Board of Trustee meetings. The President serves as co-chair of the Governance Coordinating Council and represents both the GCC and College Leadership Team at the Board of Trustees meetings.
