To count, the criteria must address the specific sustainability challenges and impacts associated with products and/or services in each category, e.g. by requiring or giving preference to multi-criteria sustainability standards, certifications and labels appropriate to the category. Broader, institution-wide policies should be reported in Part 1, above.

Consumable office products

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating consumable office products?:
No

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for consumable office products:
CLC's Central Services has decided to move the college away from desktop printers to multi-function print (MFP) devices. MFPs cost a fraction of what desktops cost for printing, which will the save the college $10s of thousands each year. MFPs will nearly eliminate the purchase of toner cartridges that may or may not be recyclable. Central services has recently made the move over to purchasing white copy paper that has 30% recycled content.
CLC's facilities department is only purchasing only LED lighting fixtures and carpet squares as has been modernizing its facilities. Carpet squares reduce waste and frequently contain recycled content.

Furniture and furnishings

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating furniture and furnishings?:
No

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for furniture and furnishings:
The college has made the decision to purchase only LED fixtures as it moves to modernize its facilities. Fluorescent lighting is in the process of being entirely phased out. All new carpeting is made of carpet squares, meaning that replacement of squares will save the college from having to dispose of large amounts of carpeting to be able to replace damaged areas.

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating Information technology (IT) and equipment?:
No

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for Information Technology (IT) and equipment:

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating professional service providers?:
Yes

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for professional service providers:
CLC has a Disadvantage Business Enterprise purchasing policy giving preference to minority-, woman-, or veteran-owned businesses and also for giving additional consideration for local and environmentally responsible businesses.

CLC chooses its architectural and construction management firms with the expectation these consultants are LEED accredited professionals who will help the college to meet LEED building certification. Our most recent master plan was titled the "Sustainable Master Plan" which made the case for CLC to build its LEED Platinum Science Building. The same process is taking place as the college begins design and development of a new building on the Lakeshore Campus, for another LEED Platinum project beginning this year. The firms being subcontracted will have to demonstrate proficiency in sustainable technologies to help the college to meet its goal of LEED Platinum once again. These standards fit with the college Sustainability Plan Goal 2 Buildings and Energy.

Transportation and fuels

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating transportation and fuels?:
No

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for transportation and fuels:
Goal 6 of the Sustainability Plan promotes clean alternative transportation and Action Item 6.4 guides CLC to purchase fuel-efficient vehicles. The college owns and operates 2 hybrid cars for staff to take to meetings across the state and region. The college police department has an electric segue and an electric off-road patrol vehicle that help the police to patrol campus grounds using fewer fossil fuels.
