Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Living Lab Trail

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The College of Lake County has taken the concept of the Living Laboratory to the next level. In 2019, CLC inaugurated its Living Lab Trail with interpretive signage across the campus and throughout its buildings. The purpose of the signage is to help campus visitors to appreciate what is involved with LEED certified buildings, geothermal heat exchange, solar PV, solar thermal, wetland and prairie restoration, bioswales, bicycle transportation options and ten dimensions of wellness. The signage connects sustainable features on campus with opportunities to take similar actions at home or elsewhere in the community and also extends awareness of similar actions taking place around the world. The signage also connects sustainability features with educational and career opportunities. The trail is also a draw for school groups to explore learning opportunities at the community college. The trail serves as tool to connect the campus with the surrounding community as well.
