A brief description of how the figure above was determined:
Students at CLC pursuing an AA degree do not typically declare a major, but rather a general degree. What we have done is taken the enrollments for 1 year, Summer 2018, Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 in courses identified in AC-1 as having sustainability focus. In consultation with the STARS feedback team, we feel that is an equivalent measure that demonstrates the percentage of students taking classes that have the sustainability focus and learning outcomes.
Students pursuing AA or transfer degrees are required to pass an I/M course that focuses primarily on underrepresented groups within the U.S. or on the culture of a society outside the U.S. Courses may be in any discipline. The goal of the I/M requirement is to help students to foster awareness and mutual respect by seeking to understand our own and other cultures, to live effectively in a global community, and to bring multiple perspectives to the work force. This cultural awareness fosters a sense of social equity and sustainability for graduates and transfers.
