Documentation

A copy of the institution’s inventory of its sustainability course offerings and descriptions:
Do the figures reported above cover one, two, or three academic years?:
One

A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
The number of sustainability courses identified in this inventory are taken from course descriptions in the 2019-20 catalog. Courses were identified as having sustainability content or focus. "Content" means that the topics of environmental, economic, and/or social sustainability are inclusive in a unit or module, with one or more sustainability-focused activities, or integrated through challenges, issues, and concepts throughout the course. These courses help students to develop skills to incorporate a perspective of sustainability in their coursework and fields of study. "Focus" means the course delved more deeply into content with inter-related and interdependent aspects of environmental, economic, and social sustainability as a central topic, a principle lens for exploring the topic, and/or an ongoing exploration of the sustainability of the principle topic of study. These selections have been sent to the academic deans of the college for their review and approval.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each offering or section of a course was counted as an individual course

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:
If courses were cross-listed between 2 departments or more, they were only counted once.

CLC underwent a two-year process of evaluating how the environmental, social and economic elements of sustainability are being taught by instructors across the college. In the second year of the Academic Quality Improvement Project, faculty received training about how sustainability can be added as a critical thinking tool to help students to evaluate the impacts of decision making on the interrelated aspects of the triple bottom line.
