Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

CLC's president Dr. Jerry Weber has served on the Lake County Partners for Economic Development Board of Directors, Workforce Investment Board of Lake County, the Lake County Community Foundation Board of Directors, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning Economic Development Committee, and the Lake County Blue Ribbon Advisory Council for the Illinois Route 53 Extension. Dr. Weber has presented on the connection between sustainability, leadership development and economic development on numerous occasions at local conferences.

CLC advocates for EV charge stations, renewable energy, open space conservation and preservation, watershed planning, and other policies in Lake County with local municipalities and county agencies.

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the state/provincial/regional level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

CLC is a leader in the state of Illinois as one of the co-sponsors of the Illinois Green Economy Network (IGEN), a consortium of Illinois community colleges working together to share resources, common experiences and best practices to help grow the new green economy. CLC works closely with the Illinois Community College Board to advocate for sustainability in higher education. CLC was in support of the Future Energy Jobs Bill which was passed in Dec. 2016.

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the national level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

CLC's president Dr. Jerry Weber has served on the boards of the AACC Sustainability Task Force, MomentUs Higher Education Leadership Circle, and the USGBC Center for Green Schools Advisory Board. Dr. Weber has presented at many conferences across the country about the roles of higher education in developing leadership, models of sustainability, and the green economy.

Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the international level, including the issues, legislation, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

CLC's president Dr. Jerry Weber has served on the boards of AACC Presidential Advisory Council on China and the AACC Commission on Global Education. Dr. Weber has presented in China, South Korea, and Canada about the roles of higher education in developing leadership, models of sustainability, and the green economy.

In November 2016, CLC with IGEN implemented the Green China 200 Conference: Higher Education as the Center for Transforming Communities for a Sustainable Future, held at Sanming University in Fujian, China. We are working with Global Corporate College (GCC) to prepare materials for the launch of the program with the first group of 10 pilot universities in China to green their campuses, curriculum, career training for the green economy, and engaging with the local community.

CLC also came out in support of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement.
