The Biology curriculum at the College of Lake County is a two-year program leading to an Associate in Science Degree. The program offers courses that prepare students for continued study toward a baccalaureate degree in Botany, Ecology, Microbiology, Wildlife Management or Zoology.

Today’s horticulture industry offers careers that go beyond landscaping and floral design. Associate degree graduates of horticulture programs can become natural area managers, arborists and owners and managers of sustainable farms as well as landscape designers and business owners. CLC Horticulture program offers Associate in Applied Science degrees in five specialty areas.

Sustainability programs provide a broad understanding of the natural world and how it relates to the built environment. Subject matter ranges from horticulture and environmental sciences to construction and engineering, including instruction on the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional certification. Coursework prepares students for a wide range of occupations related to sustainability and covers fundamental environmental issues affecting contemporary lifestyle and workforce trends.
The Sustainability program offers two transfer degrees in Sustainability:

This Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program provides instruction in air conditioning, heating and refrigeration. Introductory courses in electricity, electric motors and theory of refrigeration are included. Advanced work in commercial HVAC includes reach-in and walk-in units found in stores, dairies, and markets. Other areas of study include uses of air conditioning, temperature and humidity control, air circulation, cleaning, installation and troubleshooting of equipment. Students acquire skills essential for improving and maintaining energy efficiency.
