A brief description of the sustainability trainings and professional development opportunities available to staff :
Each semester begins with a one-week Professional Development Training Orientation for all staff and faculty. This week includes several training, informational, and professional development sessions on a variety of topics. At least one session on sustainability-related topics is offered during this week open to all employees.
Professional Development Training Orientation week also includes a series of dedicated Information-technology sessions for all employees. One of these sessions focuses on online tools and sustainability practices using technology.
Professional Development Training Orientation week also includes a communal reading for the entire employee population. The reading has often been based on sustainability topics such as Michael Pollan's Omnivore's Dilemma.
The Human Resources-Education subcommittee of the Environmental Action Committee organizes "Green Bag" Lunch and Learn seminars open to all faculty, staff, and students throughout the year.
