The College of Lake County utilizes a shared governance structure to ensure cross-functional representation and institutional communication for projects and initiatives that affect all stakeholders at the institution. Within this structure sits the Environmental Action Committee (EAC) that reports to the Campus Environment and Operations Commission. The EAC is convened by the Vice President for Administrative Affairs and chaired by a faculty (currently from the Biology department). Members of the EAC join on a voluntary basis and represent faculty, staff and students. For fiscal year 2010-11 the EAC comprises six subcommittees: Waste, Transportation, Buildings-Energy-Water, Native Landscaping, Human Resources-Education, and Curriculum.

As a founding member of the Illinois Green Economy Network, the college has established a Sustainability and Green Economy Center located on our Grayslake campus. The Center collaborates with other Centers across the state of Illinois and serves our students, faculty, staff and local community.
