The Purchasing subcommittee of the Environmental Action Committee has created a list of recommendations for the institution that covers the following areas:
- Buy Laptops, Not Desktops
- Buy SFF (Small Form Factor)Desktops
- Avoid Hazardous Materials/Environmental Assessment
- Purchase Energy Star when possible
- Pick a new Power-supply unit
- Use multi-core processors
- Use more efficient monitors
- Choose the correct size graphic cards
- Set operating system settings
- Recycle equipment
