A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

In collaboration with ModernThink LLC, an independent management consulting firm focused on workplace quality in higher education, the College of Charleston administered a Workplace & Campus Culture survey in 2019.

The survey included 60 statements on a 5-point agreement scale, 16 additional statements on a 5-point agreement scale, 28 benefit satisfaction questions on a 5-point satisfaction scale, three open-ended questions and five self-selected demographic questions.

More than 1,700 employees responded, yielding an overall response rate of 52 percent. ModernThink and senior leadership later hosted a Town Hall on September 23, 2021 to review survey results and discuss the institution's next steps.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

Leadership reviewed results and recommendations made by the consulting firm. They take the recommendations into account when developing strategies to improve the institution and continue surveys in coming years.
