A brief description of the sustainability newsletter or social media platform:

The Center for Sustainable Development maintains an engaged digital presence on social media and through online publications, such as our bi-monthly newsletter, The Resilient Advocate, and student-driven story-telling platform and blog, Synergies. You can follow the Center for Sustainability on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube (look for @SustainCofC). Our social media platforms allow us to directly engage with Cougar students and campus partners and provide timely, visually driven information on events, projects and Center activities.

Our newsletter, The Resilient Advocate, is released twice a semester and is targeted towards students, faculty, and staff. This focused piece is emailed to relevant stakeholders and advertises new initiatives, successes, upcoming events and progress on major initiatives including the Quality Enhancement Plan.

Finally, a student-organized blog called Synergies is a hub for creative content, graphic design, podcasts and testimonials produced by Center interns. You can check out Synergies content online at https://synergies.cofc.edu.

A brief description of the signage that highlights sustainability features on campus:

Through the Green Fee, the Center for Sustainable Development and Cougar Changemaker Committee helped provide water bottle refill stations on campus -- complete with signage on the importance of reusable materials and how Cougar students might bring a sustainability project to life with financial resources like the Green Fee.

The university also features educational signage informing students, faculty and staff on the importance of turning off lights to conserve energy; recyclable or compostable waste; and gender neutral bathrooms.

Yes

A brief description of the guide for green living and/or incorporating sustainability into the residential experience:

Center for Sustainable Development students, faculty and staff distribute zero waste brochures to residents on campus, which outline what materials or products can and cannot be recycled, trashed or composted.

This guide features helpful visuals and clear guidance on recycling best practices, and it includes information on how a student can rent a recycling bin for their dorm room from the Center.
