Sustainability Literacy Scholars Program
A brief description of the undergraduate degree program:
The Sustainability Literacy Scholars Program exemplifies the College of Charleston's commitment to sustainability literacy and its belief in the enhancement of student learning through education, expression and empowerment. Guided by a paradigm of resilience and building upon a holistic foundation of environmental, economic and social sustainable literacy, the program prepares students to be forceful advocates and innovative leaders for a sustainable existence.
The strategies to develop Sustainability Literacy Scholars, include: increasing sustainability literacy through coursework, volunteer experiences and leadership events; engaging in real-world sustainability literacy-focused experience; cultivating leadership skills, as well as critical and creative thinking; building systems thinking competencies and the understanding of how these relate to resiliency; and, inspiring commitment and involvement in a sustainability literate campus community.
Students must complete at least nine credit hours of sustainability focused or related courses. Classes must include at least one sustainability focused or related course in economics, one sustainability focused or related course in society and/or equity, and one sustainability focused or related course on the environment.

Urban Studies Program

A brief description of the undergraduate degree program (2nd program):
Set amidst a historic urban landscape, the Urban Studies program is a multidisciplinary major designed to provide students with the academic foundation necessary to understand and be sensitive to the problems and potential of the city and its environment. Students become acquainted with approaches to the study of urbanization through courses offered in several departments, including business administration, economics, history, sociology, political science and historic preservation and community planning. This Bachelor of Arts degree mandates students complete 41 or more hours of coursework.

Introduction to Environmental and Sustainability Studies
A brief description of the undergraduate minor or concentration:
The mission of the interdisciplinary minor in Environmental and Sustainability Studies is to provide students with opportunities to learn more about the natural environment, the ecology of the planet and sustainability, while understanding the impact of political, social, cultural and economic activities on the environment. Students must complete 19 hours in the minor (at least nine hours at the 200 level) at the College of Charleston.

Leadership, Change and Social Responsibility Concentration
A brief description of the undergraduate minor or concentration (2nd program):
Students majoring in Business Administration can choose to concentrate in Leadership, Change and Social Responsibility. This concentration is housed within the Management and Marketing major and the College's School of Business. Courses are designed to enhance students' leadership ability and provide basic skills required for a changing workforce. This concentration features experiential and real-world opportunities, and students interact with leaders from nonprofit, for-profit and government organizations.
