A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
Information regarding student commuting behavior was based on surveys from student research papers in F-SEM 124: Global Change and YOU. Colgate is a residential campus with a free shuttle service (Colgate Cruiser). Students commute to classes primarily by taking the Cruiser, walking, biking, or carpooling. Recently, we have also seen electric-powered bicycles being used on campus.

The Office of Sustainability and Colgate's Sustainability Council administer an annual campus-wide survey to all faculty and staff. The survey is sent via email to all employees around the same date in the fall of each year.
The data for this credit was taken from our 2021 annual employee commuter survey.
