Colgate purchases electricity from our local municipality (Hamilton Municipal Electric). We purchase 84% directly from hydroelectric resources and the other 16% comes off the upstate NY e-Grid (NYUP).

Our central utility plant provides domestic heating and hotwater needs for 37 campus buildings (powered by wood chips and fuel oil #6). The remaining builings (off the main steam line) are heated by fuel oil #2 and electricity.
