A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:
Sustainability is the lens through which we viewed our entire Campus Master Plan update in 2012-13. More specifically, the Plan establishes broad and far-reaching sustainability principles and projects that include but are not limited to: ~restoration of the quality and function of our natural watershed; ~reducing sprawl by concentrating campus life and our built environment in a centralized manner; ~maximizing space-efficiency so that constructing new buildings is avoided when practicable; ~reserve parking and car activity to the perimeter of campus to facilitate a pedestrian and bike-friendly community; ~evaluating Colgate's open space for the possible inclusion of energy and food production.
