A brief summary of the climate plan’s long-term goals:
Colby’s Climate Action Plan was completed in 5/2010. Long-term goals are for Colby to become carbon neutral by 2015 through the construction a new biomass heating plant, continued improvements in campus operations, energy conservation investments, reduced consumption and finally the purchase of carbon offsets.

In the short-term, Colby’s biomass heating plant has just been completed and began generating steam for campus use in 1/2012, which will reduce carbon emissions by 55-80%.
