A brief description of the program:
Colby has 2 different strategies to reduce move-in waste. 1) Project RESCUE. Colby has been running RESCUE since 2001-2002. Clothing, household items, furniture, appliances and other things that students leave behind when moving out in the Spring are collected, cleaned and are stored for sale to students moving in in the Fall thus reducing the amount of boxes and packing materials from new purchases in the Fall. 2) Colby has recycling stations in all dorms with areas for recycling of cardboard as well as paper, cans, and bottles.
