A brief description of the IPM plan(s) :

IPM Management team oversees all pest management. Colby focuses on inspection for early detection of pests, and preventative measures, with non-chemical applications first. Decisions are based on campus priority zones. No chemicals are used without IPM management team approval (organic products given priority). Knowledgeable and licensed professionals are used when chemical applications are deemed necessary.

Colby owns 714 acres of land, 125 acres of which are cultivated and comprise the core of the campus and the athletic fields. All 125 acres of the cultivated grounds are maintained according to the College's IPM plan. The remaining acreage is wooded or natural fields with native plants, which require little or no management and is maintained by mechanical means.
