Part 1: Definition Sustainability research explores challenges of how to meet society’s current energy and resource requirements without compromising biological diversity, environmental health, social well-being and equity, or the needs of future generations. Sustainability research and education at Colby support activities on our campus, in our community, in our region, and around the world. We do this by engaging individuals, the College community, and our partners in the study of the complex, interdisciplinary problems and solutions for living on a resource-constrained earth.
