A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
All new students coming to CCU are required to complete an orientation program which includes two (2) components:
Asynchronous Online Orientation: This self-paced orientation will allow you to learn about the academic programs and student life services at CCU.
AND
Synchronous Orientation: All students are also required to attend a synchronous, two-day orientation program. During Orientation, students meet with representatives from various offices and academic departments, meet with an advisor and register for classes, and connect with other incoming students.
During New Student Orientation, students are exposed to sustainability during the Chanticleer Discovery Fair and at the Campus Networking Sessions. At these sessions, Sustain Coastal provides families with information about sustainability at CCU and sustainable transportation opportunities at CCU such as biking, carpooling, and shuttling. Also at the information fairs, students may receive a free recycling bin and information about sustainability courses.
Additionally, prior to new student orientation, Sustain Coastal presents to the Orientation Leaders about sustainability at the University and about sustainable living. This information is integrated into campus tours during orientation week.
