A brief description of the institution’s community garden:
In Spring 2019, a CCU student group (SPROUT) built a community garden on CCU's campus. Located on-campus next to the CCU Greenhouse and university housing, the garden was the result of this group of students coming from all different majors with a shared a love of nature and getting their hands dirty! As part of building the community garden, SPROUT members prepared plants in the campus greenhouse, learned what goes into site selection (e.g. access to water source, full sun) and also visited local community gardens. The community garden site was selected to be open and accessible to students living in the nearby campus housing complex. The garden was actively used until campus closed due to COVID. Although the garden has not been utilized since campus resumed to full operations, the new department of Campus Environments has plans to revitalize the community garden in Spring 2022, which includes plans for expansion.
