A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
Per the current Faculty Handbook (2021-2022), Section 6.8.1 (pg. 70), Assistant and Associate Professors/Librarians, Professors/Librarians are evaluated on teaching, contributions to the discipline through intellectual/professional contributions, and service. All tenure-track and tenured faculty at CCU need to engage in research/scholarship as part of their promotion and tenure expectations. Per the Fall 2020 University Faculty Factbook, the number of tenure-track & tenured faculty in Fall 2020 was 360. This number was calculated by adding up number of Professors (118), Associate Professors (126), and Assistant Professors (116). To determined the number of employees engaged in sustainability research, an all-faculty survey was sent out in Sept. 2021. Faculty were asked to respond to a survey that asked about sustainability-focused and -inclusive courses taught; and sustainability research or scholarship they engaged in. The survey also asked faculty to provide a list or sample of your sustainability-focused research interests, projects and/or publications.
27 faculty identified themselves as engaged in sustainability scholarship and research. Additional faculty & staff members was later identified as engaged in sustainability scholarship, bringing the total to 36 faculty.
The list of departments was provided by CCU's Institutional Research. The Fall 2020 University Factbook was used to determined the number of tenure-track/tenured faculty in each department.
