The CSU Office of Sustainability is housed within the department of Facilities, Architects, Safety and Technology. It is made up of the Director of Sustainability, one part-time student intern and a .2 FTE staff member with a focus on energy and utility contracts.

The Director of Sustainability is responsible for integrating sustainability values and practices into the operations and culture of the University. The position was established in September 2016 and was made permanent in 2020. The Director develops educational programming, establishes priority goals and targets, evaluates progress, reports publicly and plans future strategy.
