IN-34: Spend Analysis

CSU maintains an ongoing Supplier Diversity Initiative and spend analysis has been completed on goods and services to determine the percentage of purchases from minority business enterprises.

CSU is a diverse campus doing business in a diverse region. By seeking to have our supplier base reflect our customers, employees, and regional population, we:
Establish ourselves as a community institution that is inclusive in its business practices;
Put money back into communities from which we are seeking customers;
Potentially realize gains in pricing and innovation by introducing new suppliers;
Create a potential competitive advantage in diverse communities – buy from us because we buy from you!
We will advocate for small, women-owned, and minority-owned business enterprises that have the track record and/or capacity to serve our needs and provide the best overall value to the University.

Since fiscal year 2014, the University has had an active supplier diversity program designed to increase our purchases of goods and services from minority business enterprises (“MBEs”). The ultimate goal is for our supplier base to more closely reflect our customer, employee and regional population in terms of diversity. For FY19 we purchased 4.75% and for FY18 we purchased 9.70% of goods and services from MBEs. With the collective University's support, we remain committed to reaching or exceeding our goals at fiscal year end.
