The President’s Council on Diversity (PCD) shall:
a.Provide advice and recommendations to the Vice President for Institutional Diversity and the President regarding all aspects of diversity applicable to the work of the University and its faculty, staff, students and administrators.
b.Assist the VP for Institutional Diversity in setting goals and priorities, monitoring and updating the CSU Diversity in Action Plan and annual report.
c.Review and make recommendations annually regarding the state of diversity at CSU.
d.Receive briefings on matters related to diversity and be informed by data.
e.Meet annually with the President of the University.
The Diversity in Action Plan shall:
a.Ensure that diversity is integral to excellence in access, opportunity and success at the University.
b.Guide the University in fostering and holding all members of the academy accountable as centers of responsibility for diversity in the work of our institution.
c.Encompass representational diversity, campus climate, curricular and co-curricular transformation, recruitment-retention-achievement-graduation, multicultural programs, diversity education and professional development, community partnerships, supplier diversity and outcomes assessment.
d.Recognize individuals and organizational units as centers of responsibility for diversity, inclusive of the President and Board of Trustees to academic affairs, athletics, business and finance, development and university relations, faculty, staff, students, and student services.
e.Comply with all federal and state laws applicable to civil rights and higher education.
f.Support and foster the advancement of access, opportunity and success across all segments of the University.
g.Be the capstone of 20 years of diversity work at CSU.
Operation:
a.Members will be generally representative of the diversity of the university community and shall be appointed by the University President in consultation with the Vice President for Institutional Diversity, who will chair the committee.
b.Members will serve staggered terms of two years.
c.The PCD shall meet monthly and as often as necessary to conduct the business of the Council, but no less than three times a year after the first full year of operation.
d.The Vice President for Institutional Diversity shall support operation of the committee.

A brief description of the diversity office:
The Division of Institutional Diversity has university-wide responsibility to advance diversity, opportunity and positive race and community relations. Program initiatives focus on enriching the campus environment through educational experiences that enhance positive race and human relations; retaining minority students, faculty and staff; supporting academic and non-academic diversity initiatives; identifying and responding to issues and concerns related to minority groups; reviewing institutional policies, procedures, priorities and programs related to serving the diverse university community; and collaborating with the urban community through outreach and service.
The broad array of high quality services and multicultural programs is designed to complement student learning, nurture leadership and personal development, build campus community, and connect with Cleveland’s diverse communities.

A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:
As the chief diversity officer of the University, the Vice President for Institutional Diversity provides leadership for the Division to focus on the advancement of institutional diversity, community relations, diversity training and education, diversity outreach and retention and campus climate. The Division is comprised of the Office of the Vice President and the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs (ODAMA). Major retention, achievement and student support programs include the AHANA Peer Mentoring Program (African American, Hispanic American, Asian American and Native American), STARS (Student Achievement in Research and Scholarship) undergraduate research program, and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Student Services.
