A brief description of the pre-consumer food waste composting program:
Organic waste produced in the kitchen at 2800 Euclid Ave and in the kitchen and dining areas of the Student Center are collected for composting by Rosby Resource Recycling. This is a pilot program initiatiated in January 2011.
Compostable items include: produce, meats, dairies, bakery, eggs, cheese, coffee, coffee filters, paper, cardboard, waxed cardboard, paper towels, paper napkins, wood, wood crates, compostable cups, compostable cutlery, compostable packaging, and more.
Rosby Resource Recycling provides three 95 gallon wheeled totes to the 2800 Euclid facility and three 95 gallon wheeled totes to the Student Center for use in collecting compostable waste. They empty full containers on a scheduled basis of three days per week and transport the material to their off-site processing facility.
