The Division of Community, Engagement, Belonging and Access (CEBA) supports the key pillars of the University’s new strategic plan, Clemson Elevate. The new division, led by Dr. Felecia Benton-Johnson, Vice President for Diversity and Inclusive Excellence, aspires to foster a community of belonging where all members thrive and do so by building positive relationships; broadening collective understanding; providing experiential learning opportunities and engaging in innovative and collaborative research. Clemson University is committed to building an environment and creating a sense of belonging for visitors, students, alumni, staff and faculty. Several initiatives and programs have been developed to create connection, academic advancement and compassionate leadership. Fostering a culture of full inclusion through events and initiatives will lay the groundwork for a more equitable society. CEBA consists of the following offices and featured initiatives: • Harvey and Lucinda Gantt Multicultural Center • College Preparation & Outreach • Charles H. Students:
Mission Statement: Academic institutions exist for the transmission of knowledge, the pursuit of truth, the intellectual and ethical development of students, and the general well-being of society. Undergraduate students must be broadly educated and technically skilled to be informed and 
productive citizens. As citizens, they need to be able to think critically about significant issues. Students also need to be prepared to complete undergraduate work and a major course of study. The mission requires a high level of knowledge about and competence in numerous areas to include Cross-Cultural Awareness. Every student must complete 3 Credit Hours in this content area as part of their course of study.
Faculty and Staff:
1. Annual Required Training (https://www.clemson.edu/human-resources/currentemployees/development/tigertraining.html) 
Annual required training helps safeguard the University against potential violations of policy and ensures 
compliance with laws and regulations. The training is offered through TigerTraining. Faculty and staff 
are required to complete the following: 
-Bridges: Building A Supportive Community (Title IX)
- Policies and Procedures for Equitable Treatment
- Information Security Awareness
- Conflict of Interest
- Required New Supervisor Training Series 
2. Supervising for Success Program (https://www.clemson.edu/human-resources/supervisors/managing 
-development/new-supervisor.html) 
The Supervising for Success program is designed specifically for University supervisors to provide clear, 
standardized expectations and development opportunities. These sessions provide the necessary 
knowledge, skills and behaviors to ensure supervisors excel in their roles. All supervisors are strongly 
encouraged and new supervisors are required to complete the following: 
- Two brief, self-paced online training modules (within 30 days of hire or promotion)
- Seven instructor-led courses (within one year of hire or promotion) 
o Law and policy
o Difficult conversations
o Managing staff performance concerns and misconduct
o Equitable treatment and civility in the workplace
o Implicit bias
o Standards of Ethical Conduct
The Tiger Training System will automatically enroll each new supervisor and provide links for session 
registration and ongoing reminders. We offer multiple sessions per course to allow participants greater 
opportunity and flexibility.
3. Strategic Inclusive Excellence Certificate Program

The Strategic Inclusive Excellence Certificate helps participants develop the skills needed to advance an 
inclusive environment and create a sense of belonging for all. Participants may take workshops to earn a 
certificate or individual workshops based on their needs and interests. Requirements include:
- Semester 1: 101 Core Workshop and three Elective Workshops.
- Semester 2: 201 Core Workshop, two Elective Workshops and one Elective Experience.
- Semester 3: 301 Core Workshop, two Elective Experiences and Capstone Campus Action Project 
(Summer).
Elective experiences may include activities in the Division of Community, Engagement, Belonging and 
Access (Gantt Multicultural Center, Interpersonal Violence Prevention, Office of Access and Equity, 
Accessibility) events; cultural awareness lectures/talks sponsored by departments, commissions and/or 
student organizations; President’s Forum on Inclusive Excellence; Men of Color National Summit; 
Women’s Roundtable; and/or other programs.
