A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the state/provincial/regional level:

Our University advocates and supports the development of renewable utility programs at our state level. The Provost and the Clemson University Sustainability Commission provided a letter of support for the following initiative:
As the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and Chair of the Clemson University Sustainability Commission, we strongly support the proposal by Duke Energy that make it easier for Clemson University to achieve our renewable energy goals with local sources. As the land grant University for South Carolina, Clemson University has a responsibility to set the example of reducing its carbon footprint. Despite the wonderful resource of the 17,500 acres of the Clemson Experimental Forest, its rather dissected topography limits its potential for large solar arrays. By allowing Clemson University to purchase renewable energy through the filed program options, the University can more quickly and efficiently purchase renewable solar energy through its main provider--Duke Energy.
Clemson has a stated goal of NETZERO by 2030 and while this is very ambitious, we appreciate and support local renewable program options to assist us in this quest.
