Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Sustainable Tree Legacy Program

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
A member of the grounds crew at Clarkson University who focuses on Clarkson's trees has started a program called Sustainable Tree Legacy Program. This program was created to help maintain the legacy of the trees on our campus by collecting seedlings from on campus trees to germinate and plant back onto our campus. Using the campus greenhouse, the grounds member works with students from Sustainability Club and Garden Club to plant and take care of the seedlings in hopes to be able to replant them on campus. The tree species recovered and grown through this program include scrubs, oriental trees and non-oriental trees that are native to the area.

The program not only helps to promote biodiversity on campus and preserve genetic lineage of the campus trees, but it also allows students to get hands-on experience in understanding how to take care of trees and the importance of tree care.
