A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:

Data for faculty and staff commuting were derived from the most recent voluntary electronic surveys completed in November 2018 (n=197). On average, employees drive 22 miles per round trip, most often trips(88%) are as a single occupant of the vehicle. This average was taken over all employees completing the survey providing complete data, including those who typically walk, bike or carpool.
