The Environmental Politics and Governance degree program examines the socio-economic and political basis for mechanisms as diverse as the allocation of federal funding of environmentally-related research, the development of science-based environmental policy, and taking into account the actions and interests of private sector firms and non-governmental organizations in the environmental arena.

The Clarkson University Civil & Environmental Engineering Department is ranked among the top in the nation at the graduate level by U.S. News & World Report 2011. Graduate courses and research can lead to a degree of Master of Science, Master of Engineering or Doctor of Philosophy. There are currently 50 full-time graduate students in these programs. Research-based degree programs that investigate and solve major environmental and infrastructure problems. We offer a Master of Science (MS) in Civil Engineering and a project-based Master of Engineering (ME) as well as a Master's International program. Thirty credits of coursework, seminar and project or research work are required for the ME and MS degrees. The ME degree can be completed in one academic year and is often coupled with a second year in the MBA program. The MS degree typically takes 18-24 months and requires students to write and defend a thesis on their independent research.

Peace Corps Master’s International students are inspired and motivated to make a difference by solving real-world problems. They seek out opportunities to work in the developing world, where they might have the opportunity to use their technical and team problem-solving skills to solve problems and develop capacity in others.  The Peace Corps Volunteer experience provides them with the practical experiences of the challenges and satisfactions of doing development work and capacity building that will both ground their academic experience and inspire them.
