Sustainability is presented to the entire incoming freshman class as a part of our session on Clarkson's Values. Small teams of students compete as part of an effort to communicate the expectations and rules for proper recycling. Bags of sustainability goodies are provided to these volunteers.
This activity is repeated for graduate student orientation also.

The sustainability coordinator first meets with all of the RA staff during their orientation to make sure that they understand all aspects of our sustainability opportunities and programs on campus. They then discuss this information, primarily about recycling, on each floor.

Information students receive about arrival on campus stresses the need to reduce solid waste associated with move in day. Members of our SOS (students serving students) volunteers are posted at the dumpsters to explain recycling requirements and break down cardboard for proper waste management.
