Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability, including the issues, bills, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:

CU has taken direct action in public policy at the local, regional, state, and federal levels to promote sustainability throughout our region. Some examples include:
* direct action resulting in a more sustainable use of NYPA funds for a SPEC fund for clean tech start-ups;
* CU re-energized the NYS-funded Beacon Institute;
* sustainability and the environment are key (and statewide differentiating) parts of the North Country Regional Economic Development Council’s vision for growth in the region (Clarkson President Collins is the co-chair of the NCED council).
* Faculty members have served on the EPA Science Advisory council (Hopke, Powers) and testified before Congress (Holsen) to promote environmental and sustainability issues.
