Does the institution offer housing options to accomodate the special needs of transgender and transitioning students (either as a matter of policy or as standard practice)?:

A brief description of the program, policy, or practice:
Since 2008. we have had at least one transitioning student each year.  Because these students have to identify to CLARKSON if they wish housing consideration, we often learn of their gender identity through admissions.  We consult with the student (usually alone – our history has been that the student is “apart” from their family on these issues) on what would make them most comfortable for housing.  We always have accommodative needs housing available for incoming students and that has proven to be our available housing stock for incoming students.  Once a student is a matriculated student and goes through our housing lottery process, they choose their own roommates and select housing on a seniority-based lottery process.
