A brief description of how multiple stakeholder groups were involved in developing the plan:
The Sustainability Strategic Plan is an evolving document that was created primarily through the Inst. for a Sustainable Environment and the Facilities Department. Broad focus group meetings were held at two key junctures – after the draft STARs analysis was completed to help define strengths and opportunities for improvement and after the draft plan was completed to refine and prioritize objectives and define actions and responsibilities for all units across campus.

The most substantial measureable goal is to attain a STARs Gold rating by 2017. Quantitative goals for reducing energy use per sq. ft. and greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing the number of sustainability classes, etc. are defined to achieve the overall gold rating.

The STARs assessment will be completed at the mid-way point in the 5-y plan to assess our progress.
