A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:
All new campus buildings and major renovations of existing campus building spaces are designed in accordance with green building guidelines to produce energy savings, lower the environmental impact, while producing a quality indoor environment. All new campus buildings and major renovation designs incorporate the latest lighting technology including LED parking and walkway lights, energy recovery systems, electronic water conserving control systems, high efficiency motors and VFD controls where applicable, and the building automation control and monitoring systems. Building envelope systems utilize high performance insulating materials and systems including high performance windows and roofing systems.
Review teams, including all stakeholders, are convened for every major renovation or construction project. These teams are the drivers for following the standards. The clerk-of-the-works is ultimately responsible for implementing the standard practices during construction.
