Trustees of Clark University Committee on Shareholder Responsibility offers recommendations on proxy voting involving issues of environmental and social responsibility. The Committee will:
•Consider all shareholder resolutions presented to Clark that ask the University to vote in favor of actions designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
•Vote favorably for all such resolutions that are reasonably presented, and for which reasonable people would agree that the actions to be taken would serve in the long term interests of the University as shareholders.
•For any such resolutions not supported, write a letter of explanation to management, indicating Clark's general support for reducing such emissions by portfolio companies, and indicating the reasons for our vote against (or not for) the specific resolution.
•Communicate not less than annually the outcomes of such a policy

This Committee recently expanded its mandate, as reflected in its name change to "Committee on Social Responsibility". Its membership varies from year to year, but includes three trustees, including the Chair, three faculty members, and at least one undergraduate and one graduate student.

Considered issue of union representation among campus dining employees. Also proposed successfully a resolution concerning "blood diamonds: and conflict avoidance. Also proposed successfully a ban on Sudan related investments. Considered a proposal to divest from fossil fuel extraction and transportation in the endowment fund.
