Excerpt from Campus Climate Action Plan:
Energy efficiency measures in both the new construction and renovation projects will achieve a 15% GHG emissions reduction per square foot of gross building area. These anticipated energy savings in the buildings, along with additional mitigation measures in transportation and other College functions, will support a 9% overall reduction in carbon even with the 116% increase in gross square footage.
At the end of this first phase the campus emissions are estimated to be 5490 metric tons of CO2e or approximately 5.11 metric tons of CO2e/1000 square feet. The implementation of the mitigation measures in Phase One will take place in three interim phases over the course of 25 years.
