The College is one of 25 campuses under the City University of New York (CUNY) system. CUNY set out an environmental management system in 2003 to provide effective management and continuous improvement in its environmental programs. Over the years, the program was expanded to include occupational health and safety. It adheres to the PDCA model, promulgates numerous programs and policies, relies on various channels for feedback including institutional and labor management safety committees, and conducts annual auditing of the campuses.

All incidents are reported to Human Resources through Community Service and Public Safety or directly to Human Resources. HR follows up to determine the type of case and the total number of days away from work. HR shares this data with Environmental Health and Safety which reviews data for completeness and accuracy.
